At the end of high school, I moved from the beautiful hills of Fort Collins, Colorado to the desert of Bakersfield, California. I left behind my high school friends (including a girlfriend named Laura) and was rather meloncholic about all of it. I hadn't really experimented with vocal-driven pop music before I moved, but living in a new place without a lot of friends seemed to bring out the 'singer' in me...

I left behind my high school friends (including a girlfriend named Laura) and was rather meloncholic about all of it. I hadn't really experimented with vocal-driven pop music before I moved, but living in a new place without a lot of friends seemed to bring out the 'singer' in me. In many ways, this is a breakthrough record for me. I was trying out my singing voice for the first time and, for all practical purposes, trying to create a pop-music record. This record has it's limitations imposed by the equipment I was using and a recording environment that was less than adequate for vocals, but despite all of that, I still had such a strong desire to create my own pop songs that I did what I could with what I had.

Recording Info: Recorded in my bedroom using a cassette recorder, a Yamaha DX-27 synthesizer, a Casio SK-5 sampler, and a Korg DDM-110 drum machine, and a radio shack microphone and mixing board - all purchased through my own entrepreneuring in high school.
