Fantasies are mostly happy and upbeat tracks that take inspiration from the Chopin pieces of the same name. Dreams are probably best thought of as Nocturnes, or mellow chill pieces. And then we have the Nightmares... who knows what was happening in the mind of Leopold or what late night musings were haunting him, but these dark and moody masterpieces shine as extraordinary examples of his genius.

The magic of Leopold's playing and composing really came alive in the middle of the night, according to musicians who knew him and experienced his performances in person. He would often wake up after nightfall and spend all night at the piano, composing and recording his ideas. This compilation is a series of jazz improvisations that were captured late in the evening over the course of several years. The tracks are interspersed with his most famous Nocturnes, also written deep in the night and early mornings. Thus the name of this release... Nocturnal Improvisations.
