Wave
Their latest release showcases a new hybrid sound

Take a ride on Hydrospacer's latest release, Wave. Featuring some of their most accessible tracks to date, Wave is the perfect balance between electronic dance music and ambient. On one of the standout tracks 'Take The Red Pill', they experimentally ran the guitar amp through a virtual stack of laptop effects for a unique stuttering guitar sound. Once it was sampled and looped, Zane played dreamy solos throughout the piece on top of the loop. The result was surprisingly organic while futuristic. This album is a must listen for technical musicians!

Hydrospacer Biography

Two friends. One is an electronic enthusiasts with years of experience in the recording studio and lots of noise making gadgets. The other is a phenomenal guitarist with massive technique and style. Both friends are overflowing with creativity that doesn't fit in the standard band-sized box.

They met through a mutual friend after college and found that they both had a very technical approach to playing and recording music. They begin recording their jam sessions when they weren't practicing with other bands. Soon, the tracks start stacking up. They began chopping and editing the tracks into more digestible chunks - and then they decided to compile them into an EP. That release eventually became known as 'Reflection'.

Their second release, 'Cloud', was similar in construction - a collection of edited live jam sessions recorded at the Flowerpot Recording Studio. One standout track is 'Mission Statement', which is an alternate edit of a guitar solo done over the top of a Dave Flowers solo track. It is the full 10 minute version and contains what may be one of Zane Williams most intense guitar solos of his career, all improvised one afternoon while Dave was working on the track for his 'Deflowered' album.

Pretty soon they started thinking about recording an album that was more intentional, rather than just improvisation jam sessions. They began multi-tracking their efforts with more complex and thought out song structures. This resulted in a new album called 'City' and featured an underground hit, 'The Long Longing'.

Their latest effort, 'Wave', is a journey through jazz, rock and electronica in an album that can be great background music or center stage. The album contains one of their most recognized tracks, 'Billiard Bunny', a track that has both a thrilling organ solo and some of the dreamiest blues guitar they've done to date. A single version was released featuring the last half of the track in a perfect edit.

Many years later, they are still recording and having the same fun experience that started over 10 years ago. Their approach is simple - no rules, except having fun with music.

What has happened is that there are many gems that have surfaced through this somewhat improvisational recording practice, and that's what is presented here through their releases.

Finally having actual distribution left them with an interesting question - what genre is it? The best answer is guitar electronica, which can best be described as what happens when a virtuoso progressive rock guitarist meets a keyboard wizard that loves beats.
